Finally ……….

Finally yes finally i got to see Jaane tu ya jaane na . Well , someone said me i should shoot myself for not watching the movie til now.. now i understood why he meant that. Such a beautiful and  romantic movie. I guess i am relieved that bollywood  can still make such movies. and what to say about the songs everybody would agree that Ar rahman has done a terrific job. Wonder how he creates magic everytime  :O  . I listen to Kabhi kabhi aditi song atleast yes atleast 30 times a day. . I loved all the characters and megha was gorgeous . AInt she ??  After Happy days (a telugu movie ) I guess this was the next best movie i have seen in recent times .  Ummm.. ok ..  I dont wish to review the movie  here in this post  so will stop with this …

MY kumbakonam trip

Well, i am back after a short gap Did u miss me ?? never mind … even i was too busy to log into WordPress  .This has to be one of the best trips out of the very few trips i have ever gone to .

Kumbakonam is located around 280 km south of chennai . If u are curious about the geographical details , Help urself and find a map .

So my journey started from kanchipuram after a short stay with my college  friends in the hostel .Got a bus  at 9 Pm sunday night  , narrow aisle ,  no push back seats , the journey was quite forgetful , to make things worse the roads were in a pretty bad state . I was hardly able to sleep during the whole journey .It was almost 530 when we reached kumbakonam bus stand and i was the happiest person to get down from the bus which looked more or like a vehicle made out of  junkyard wars.

kumbakonam is rightly called the temple ciy  . Almost every street u step in has a temple and mind it that almost 70 percent of them are huge .The complex architectural structures, intricate sculptures and inscriptions would just amaze you. Sometimes i wonder why did they built so many temples so close to each other .Not to forget that there are countelss number of temples surrounding kumbakonam.

I am not a religious person and i normally elude visiting temples but this trip has changed my perception totally.  Well ,all thanks to my freind yuvanash for helping me to do so. I have learned that temples are more than just a place of worship . Temples can be a great source of information in understanding our rich culture and heritage .

Some of the places that i realy enjoyed visited are mentioned below ..

DARASURAM temple is located just outside the kumbakonam town about 4 km away and was built in 12 century  AD by the cholas . The temple has been declared as a world heritage center by UNESCO and has been maintained by the archeological department of India very well.

The temple is preceded by a huge lawn with lush green grass which adds to the beauty of the temple .The pic on the right is the entrance of the temple .Just before the entrance there is small mandapa which has steps made up of special types of rocks . The steps give sound of seven swaras when beaten with a another rock.Unfortunatly the place was sealed as the people were almost destroying it in the name of chekcing the sounds .The temple is an excellant example of the artistic excellence , the people had those days. The sculpture below depicts one of the scenes from ramayana .

BULL and elephant having a common face

This pic above as u can see has two animals with one face .If u see from the left u can see a bull and if u see from right u can see an elephant.Well ,the reason behind this sculpture is still a mystery to me. I might need to google it to know the story behind it.

This one has a dancer with one face but three pairs of legs which clearly shows the imaginative skills of the artist those days .there was a sculpture which depicted two men holding each others legs and forming a circle like a wheel . unfortunately i dont have any pic of that :(. The temple is full of pillars which has inscriptions of varopus dance poses probably bharatnatyam and each pillar is unique by its style of design.IT would probably take a whole day if u want to have a close look at each and every sculpture present in this temple .

BRAHADEESWARAR TEMPLE

Bhragadeeswarar temple in tanjore is again a world heritage center maintained by indian archeological department .The temple is completely constructed out of granite stones . The temple was built by one of the chola kings at around 1000 AD . The temple is located inside a fortress which ofcourse is not in perfect shape now . Its one of the tallest temples with the tower reaching a  height of 70 metres . thats quite tall isn’t it .Local people say the that the tower shadow never falls on the ground. unfortunately i was in the temple at about 12 so couldn’t observe the shadow .

NANDI STATUE

The top dome of the temple gopuram is believed to be made up of a single stone which measures about 80 tonnes . The nandi statue on the right pic is the biggest nandi according to sources.It is about 12 feet high sitting on an elevated platform.The shiv lingam inside the main shrine is also the biggest i have seen .

The whole atmosphere inside the temple campus would transport you thousand years back.  I felt like stepping inside  a time machine to go back and look how these huge and marvalous structures were  created .The more you look at these majestic creations 1000 years old more you get obsessed with them.

MAIN GOPURAM

Grand Anicut OR KAllanai

KALLANAI is another magnificent example of the grandeur and excellance of ancient architecture  .Kallanai also called as Grand annaicut is a dam built across river cauvery around 2000 years around , yes thats about the time the  (A.D)  era started and it still stands as the major source of irrigation down south for many  villages .

This was the only tourist place in my whole trip whihc is not a temple . The place is really awesome .I couldn’t resist but to remove my clothes and have a plunge into the river and try my swimming skills . thankfully It was not that deep .

The nearest town to kallanai is Trichy about 25 km far .

TEMPLE GOPURAM

Sarangapani Temple is one the main temples devoted to lord vishnu . The temple is located within the kumbakonam town so we just had to walk for about 10 mintues from my freinds house to reach It .The temple’s gopuram is again huge which is full of breathtaking sculptures .The fact that each and every part of the gopuram has been painted makes it much more imposing and magnificent.

The temple is about 2000 years old however the painting works on the temple tower wont give u minute impression of the temple’s age.

The main shrine has been desinged in the form of chariot which was visible in many other small temples too .The chariots were shown being pulled by elephants and horses on either side.

The Temple gopuram’s first row has been filled with sculptures with erotic poses that too on both sides . I wonder what was in the architects mind when he ordered poses like this to be sculpted on the temples main gopuram .

Some of the other places i enjoyed visiting  were Tanjore Palace built arounf 1500 AD and Poondi Matha Basilica which was visited by john pope paul II . Then there was swamimalai temple , ramasamy temple , thirunageshwaram temple and uppali appan temple .

There are loads of temples in and around kumbakonam that i visited which are unique in their own way .Obviously i cant write about each and everyone of them . So i guess i should stop here after all u must be getting bored of reading it for so long .I am sure many of them would have said ” i quit”  midway and closed this site .

YAWN !!!!!!

I will make it short and simple .Life has been terribly boring after my college got over. All i am doing these days is eating sleeping and browsing.Switching on my PC and opening my reader for new posts is the very first thing i do ,even before brushing . I have never wanted to go to college during my college days and now i just miss my classes badly .Seriously i realized that it was heaven .

I read books when i get tired of sitting before computer .finished reading Harry potter and the chamber of secrets fourth time yesterday .Not surprising eh ?? well, i know,i know there are many who must have read it million times :D. Though i ought to be studying for my training that i am undergoing from my employer . I am hardly trying it .Its even more boring to study lessons that are online then sitting in a class.

I wonder when i would get my joining date .Sitting and doing nothing is like hell . So for a change , i am leaving to my friends place ( kumbakonam ).Would try to read ur posts as i am able to access net through my mobile . God knows why the browser doesn’t support commenting .So would miss commenting on ur blogs. Sorry in advance .Would be back after a week i guess to my usual routine .

PEOPLE I LOVE TO HATE

ITs been a quite a while since I posted something  here. Had an exam yesterday for which i had been trying to prepare all these days.Note the word trying .Alas!! i couldn’t. I might just pass but not sure .Anyways I am as exhilarated and excited now as one could be so least bothered about result as of now . I just found a new way of browsing  internet though mobile absolutely free of cost .Well, would tell u about this in my next post .ITs time for the TAGS now ..

Matangi has tagged to me write down 5 cadres of people whom i love to hate or i would rather say who irritate me the most .

• Back Biters - These people would certainly top the list . People who speak with us wearing a big smile on their faces and when we are gone they speak as bad about us  as possible.

• Second category of people are those who just cant see others rise . Jealousy being their main characteristic . You could these people fuming with smoke coming through their ears when they see someone better .

• Selfish people .There are loads of people around us who are too self centered.All they care is abt themselves . They would come to u in need of a help and when we are in need of their help they would turn their faces instead of reciprocating .

• These type of people are the ones whom i got acquainted after starting this blog.Visitors (who are not blogger’s ) who don’t care to read the post fully and jump into conclusions just by reading the title.I hate them to the core. I have loads of visitors like that who just dont  have enough brain to read what i am trying to say.

• Last category belongs to the bunch of girls and guys both who have no job other than sending silly forwards that too perpetually .I just cant stand them.ONCE in a while is Ok but sending it 5-10 times a day is quite unbearable .I find these people quite exasperating.

• Of late i have become a huge fan of Calvin and Hobes comic series. i am spending most of my free time reading those.Here’s an entire collection of calvin and hobes comic series .

• Well,strange it may seem but when none of my friends are online in orkut i love sneaking and peeping into other peoples profiles and albums. so if u do have an account in any of the networking sites plz make ur scrapbook and albums private to avoid eavesdroppers like me .

• I am a DIE HARD fan of sachin and frankly speaking sometimes sachin becomes more important for me than the team as a whole.There was a time when i used to be happy when sachin used to get hundred no matter who won the match.

• There is only one thing i can cook till date and that is MAGGI . but i wonder why it takes me atleast 10 minutes to cook it properly..if u guys have any idea to cook it in 2 minutes let me know

• I love reading books but only novels .i am not into that much of self improvement and spiritual books.they just dont interest me may be sometime in future i will give it a shot too. Give me any god damned novel and i will finish it off without saying “uff “!!!

• I Hate south indian food and i hate saying this being a south indian . May be because i stayed most of my life in north i am not accustomed to eat south indian dishes. Well,i saw some people writing they like south indian food believe me there’s lot more in south indain food apart from idly , dosa and rice and you dont want to eat that . It sucks according to me . Hope my mom doesn’t see this post

• I am a total NET freak . All i need to survive is a PC with a net connection.

Well,Well its 2:15 am now so i guess i should sleep now ..cyaa !!!

Bidding adieu to my alma mater !!!

” Why the hell have i got myself into this shit !!! the place  is a crap.I wonder what i would do among these bunch of morons for the next 4 years.” Well,these were the first thoughts that flashed my mind on the very first day of my college 4 years back .Studying in a college 2000 kms away was  never an option for me even in  my wildest dreams .Infact i had never even heard the name of the college before the fateful day when my parents chose this college for my UG degree (engineering).TIme sure flies fast , after 4 years now i feel that the first impression is not always the best impression.I was very wrong ,4 years of college have been wonderful and indeed it had been one of the  most beautiful phases of my life.

Went to college  2 days back to get my final certificates ,certificates which officially declares me as an electronics and communication engineer . Dont ask me what i have learnt all these four years .Its quite embarrassing to say that inspite of scoring a good CGPA of 8.9 i know nothing in my field  and that would justify my decision of joining an IT company .

As i was moving inside my college a strange feeling , an uneasiness gripped me.  The feeling that this might be the last day inside the college campus (ofcourse there is convocation a year later) . :(  From running away from seniors afraid of being ragged in first year to the  arranging of a  project in final year which almost ended in a jeopardy  , everything during these 4 years has been fun .

Coming late to the class regularly , mass copying of a single assignment , passing comments on junior girls ,gossips during group studies, midnight show to a crappy movie ,silly fights with friends, making up with them later, proxies for friends ,copying lab readings ,sharing those terrible PJ’s, roaming around in bike at night 2 in search of a tea shop ,hours of talk in mobile with crush,sms’ing her in class even after sitting just behind her ,adjustments in the attendance,taking seminars ,snake game in between the classes ,last minute preparations for  sem exams ,writing the most irrelevant answers,nightmares before results ,birthday parties  , placement treats and lots more .These are some of the special things that i wouldn’t be able to relish anymore but yes,it would remain afresh ever in my mind.

With all the certificates in my hand ,standing near the exit gate ( supposed to entrance) i turned around and gave a final good bye .

End of happy days !!!

Well, its almost 2:30 am now and i am yet to hit my bed. Not that i normally follow “early to rise early to bed makes u healthy wealthy and wise” but yeah i try to close my eyes atleast by 1 but wordpress woudn’t allow me to

If u are one of those rare regular readers of  this blog  u could have observed a change in my blog ’s look.YES,i have changed my theme from  PRESS ROW to DIGG 3 column and believe me with these many widgets in my sidebar it was an arduous job for me to shift it from a 2column one to 3 column one . QUITE recently wordpress changed its admin bar style and with that they have complicated the themes section totally .Earlier u just need to drag and drop the widgets from one sidebar to other but now its all not so simple .When i changed my theme all the widgets got transferred to my left sidebar and there was nothing in my second sidebar except the default calender and blogroll.I Tried to shift them directly but there was no way to do so.It took me almost one and a half hours to surrender before such a user friendly theme . THen finally i just used a fresh text box and copied my code from the widget that was in my first side bar  and pasted it.THen added that text box to my secinbd sidebar .Thats bloody long process .I still havn’t figured out a simpler process for it  .Anyways i have decided to leave it like that unless  i find an easy way .

I was tired already and i needed to change my header too as i got bored of my previous header .Well it took another 1 hour for me to make this header which u can see .ust above this post .I thought of adding some calvin and hobbes pics to the header when i came across some really cool animated cartoons of calvin through google .I left my header unfinished,uploaded it and started reading calvin and hobbes comics .Wonderfull arn’t they. ?? U just dont get bored of it. Beleive me i have read the whole series twice and still it looks new everytime i open a strip from it .

BOOK review - UNTITLED by NIKHIL KUMAR

Well, this post has been due since a month i guess but better late than never the post is finally here. Got hold of the hard copy (autpographed one) of this book more than a month back .IT was very kind of him indeed to send his book all the way from his place .

Well, the book has 25 stories in all and each story has been well written with a unique storyline.In other words ,Each story diverges into a totally different scenario which is what makes this book even more special .Most of the stories emphasize various human emotions such as love ,anger , revenge which are well intertwined with suspense humor and drama. some stories deals with the philosophical thoughts that a human mind generates.I feel this must be hardest part from an authors point of few.But i guess nikhil has done exceptionally well to express what he really wanted to express .

The book starts with the story titled ASCENT which i felt was rightly kept as the first one and gives a brief idea of what we can expect from the rest of the book .It just oozes out emotions as the story progresses with each line.

I really enjoyed reading some stories in the middle like RUSTIC HILL , THE BARGAIN , EVENING SHOWERS AND SIMPLE CRIME .Well, not because the others stories weren’t good , Its just the fact that these stories were more of fiction (my area of interest ) which created suspense and intrigue engrossing my mind , but i am sure serious readers would really appreciate the other stories much more than the ones i have mentioned .

There are two stories that i cant forget to mention here. REMOTE WAR and THE INNER WORKINGS OF A FEMALE BRAIN .The common thing in both the stories is humor . The former basically deals with the a very important day to day activity in a every middle class family “remote wars” .Each line has a its own share of humor and the way nikhil has written the story with a different perspective makes it all togethor even more funny . The latter one titled THE INNER WORKINGS OF A FEMALE BRAIN would surely be one of the best picks from the book not because of the content (which i feel is 99 percent true ) but because the way nikhil has crafted it . The story deals with most enigamatic creatures of the universe WOMEN .

The female brain has quickly analysed the greatest weakness that the Y-chromosome accords to us.It is that ,While the man has to spend his time,money and efforts to woo a girl ,she on the other hand just has to smile , and the guy’s hers!

These are few lines from it.Probably every guy reading this must be coming up with the same phrase how true !!! and most girls would certainly disagree .

Another story worth mentioning it is TRANSIENCE Which was adjudged as one of the best stories in a contest organized by a TIMES OF INDIA. A simple story yet something that grasps ur attention.For me all other stories too looked equally well .May be because i am not into voracious reading and have a limited range of books that i read.

And a final appreciation to AKHIL C.R whose did a wonderful job by clicking some realistic and apt pictures for each story .

CHANGE ORKUT THEMES !!!!

Finally i am back on posting something that used to be the hot topic when i started blogging - ” ORKUT” . I guess its been more than 7-8 months since i posted something about orkut. Orkut has officially launched 7 new themes - ORKUT BLUE , BEACH, WINTER, AUTUMN, SPRING TIME ,COUNTRY SIDE AND JR-FREINDLY GAINT . It took 1 week more for these themes to get activated on my account. My freinds had got it earlier than me so u might get the theme a bit late too . HOW to change the theme -

1. Go to profile-> edit
2. Along side the tabs like personal ,professional and other tabs there would be one named theme .
3. Select the theme and click on update.

MISSION IRON MAN !!!

Before you jump into conclusions let me tell you clearly that if any of you came to check out some review about the movie IRON MAN then i am extremely sorry to say you are in the wrong place. This post of mine just shows an outburst or u can say rant and rave describing the difficulties i faced to watch this movie.As the Title says IT was nothing less than a mission impossible for me to reach the theater where it was being played.

It all started with a call from one of my friends ganeshan (gannu) asking for me to come for the movie ( 1 pm show at satyam ) which we had been planning for quite some days now but every time it got canceled for some or the other reason. Today too , Unfortunately i had some work which was already getting delayed from past 1 week ,so i said him a flat NO and asked him not to book ticket for me .

Then as i was preparing to go out for that important work at about 10:30 i got a call again from gannu who seemed to be in a bad mood this time .I asked him his problem and he told me that mistakenly he has booked 3 tickets for them 2 times .So which counts 6 tickets totally for just 3 persons .He asked me to come to the movie in any case as he dint want the tickets to get wasted. i said YES half heartedly keeping in mind the Blistering sun that was out in the sky .

Satyam complex is about 20 -25 KM away from my house so i started at about 11:30 which is still quite early for a 1 pm show.I went to TAmbaram santorium station got myself a ticket to chrompet (to catch a bus from there) .I waited there for a few mintues and looked down at my the watch , it showed 11:40 no train!! I waited, waited and finally the train came and when i got down at chrompet which ironically is just the next station to sanatorium , the time was 12 sharp.I had a comfortable 1 hour before the show could was schelduled to start. 5 mintues went by and with that about 10 buses passed by but none of the buses among them was to my destination . Thank goodness they had just built a well shaded bus stand so i was able to stand in that scorching sun .5 minutes became 15 minutes there was still no clue of the bus ,i needed to get into . I was getting quite peevish and started thinking of returning back but then dint cuz it was a loss to gannu ( each god damned ticket had costed 120 bucks that means 120×3 bucks waste for 3 extra tickets ).

Finally i saw a bus 18 E , far and instantly looked at my watch , 12:20 ( 40 minutes is the actual time from that place to satyam complex) so felt relieved . just as the bus came near the stop it sped along instead of slowing down. BAST##D !!! that was my first reaction .i was clueless why he did like that.The time in my watch was 12:23 and I was helpless. I needed to wait .I waited again and the when the bus came it was 12:36 i knew i would be late so i called gannu and asked him to come out once i reach the satyam complex.

Adding insult to the injury the bus dint seem to move ,it was literally crawling on the road..I wanted to go to the driver and shout put on the accelerators you AS# #### . but again i was helpless I waited again and cursed myself . It was as if i had to wait till eternity ,when i was finally near my destination the time in my watch was 1:20 . Actually the stop is about 500 meters away from the theater so i thought of getting down in the signal . MY lucky day the signal was green and the bus went right ahead and stopped at spencers (one of the malls in the city) bus stop . SO now i had to go back again on the same road in which i had come . BLoody hell ! i ran like i had never before till the theater came to my sight. I had literally bathed in my sweat :angry: .Went to a shop near the theater got 2 packets of drinking water , gulped them and went inside the multiplex. Luckily another guy was late too and he was waiting for me with the tickets.

A final look down on my watch , itshowed 1:30. i thought OK , 120 bucks , 1 hour wait in red hot sun ,a drive in a motarized bullock cart and a 500 meter sprint all for a movie .What the hell !!.I must be insane. We Went inside and located our seats which was an arduous job too as it was quite dark and i made myself comfortable but thanks to my sprint the AC was of no use i was still sweating badly. AT a point of time i thought of removing my T-shirt but then thought abt the level of decency they maintain there and more over no one would be able to see my six pack abs in the darkness so dropped the idea .

With no other go i had to just sit adjust and watch the movie . How boring .!!

Phew!! Luckily the movie turned out to be pretty good. Nice story line . Awesome Special effects . And a funny climax.I guess we could expect a wonderfull IRON MAN PART 2.
